CLT Panels

AEC Prefab collaborates with Estonian and Finnish CLT panel manufacturers to find the optimal solution for the construction project and to organize logistics based on the project plan. CLT panels employ load-bearing elements in floors, walls, and roofs due to their resistance to high-racking and compressive forces at an affordable price for multi-storey and long-span diaphragm functions. The lumbar is positioned vertically in the outer layer of the in-wall, causing the fibers to flow parallel to gravity loads, increasing load capacity. The lumbar is aligned parallel to the span direction in flooring and roods. Customers can choose from a variety of CLT panels. CLT panels are typically 13.5 x 3 x 0.4 meters in size. CNC-cut panels with apertures for doors, windows, and recesses are pre-cut to the appropriate shape. AEC Prefab will customize the panels according to ventilation, piping, and electrical parameters, specified in the project-related BIM.

Timber Structures Based on CLT Panels

Framework Panels for Column-and-Beam Systems

Traditionally engineers use concrete frames when the height of the structure increases. Nowadays, glue-laminated timber structures and cross-laminated timber panes are used to reduce carbon materials. A column and beam system with a framework and CLT panels are placed on a solid concrete foundation. Glued Laminated timber columns and beams are used in the building frames of the intermediate floors, roofs, and external walls by installing diagonally to achieve rigidity. Open, convertible, and massive openings in facades are produced using a column-and-beam system, allowing for flexible spatial layout and wall openings.

 

Wall positions in the apartment buildings are easily changeable due to the lack of load-bearing partition walls. The buildings in the construction phase are raised quickly as a steel frame building, including roof installation in few days and followed by weather protection. Large-span panels are used in slabs, and internal shear walls are to maintain the wind stiffness. Facade panels are applied externally onto the frame to maintain the climate function of the structure. Customers can customize the insulation thickness and External cladding material based on their preferences. In a feasible condition, framework panels are also applied to large structures.
