Modular Structures
Modules prefabrication is the rapid form of construction method in which the ready-to-assemble panels are constructed individually in the factory. The modules are transported to the site and installed using a crane after completing the construction of windows, HVAC, and electrical connections in the modules. A load-bearing frame and surfaces such as external or internal walls,
and a roof comprise a module. These elements are manufactured in a weather-protected factory environment and assembled using CLT panels / Plaster boards / OSB / Plywood to form a complete module with integrated lifting capabilities. Either column & beam technology, a frame structure or huge slab-like elements set to build the load-bearing structures. Modular units enable sound insulation due to the double structural units in the air gaps. Volumetric elements typically have maximum dimensions of 12 x 4.2 x 3.2 metres, allowing for risk-free transportation. Modular structures are appropriate for residential areas due to their repetitiveness and quick assembly, which allows for faster construction and much more timely delivery. It is effective for low-energy construction and inserting additional storeys in existing buildings or infill development.
